Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month #InspireOrgullo

Hispanic Heritage Month kicked off on September 15th and I can’t explain the pride I feel about all of the celebratory content shared throughout social and traditional media highlighting our beautiful culture. And while all of this hoopla only happens for four weeks, I, inevitably keep my culture ever present in my daily life. Even if I wanted to, I can’t shake off all of the things that make me proud of my heritage and being Latina. In honor of that, I’ve partnered with Orgullosa to promote a wonderful video series that highlights four amazing Latina’s that I really admire. But before I share that, I thought I would give a quick rundown of all of the fab things that make me a Fabulatina:

  1. As much as I burn scented candles in my home, I can’t help but purchase those large Virgin Mary candles on my occasional trip to my local supermarket.
  2. If you follow me on Snapchat, you’ve seen my passion for gourmet cooking, which always includes a dash of adobo. Just a tiny bit.
  3. A weekend well spent out in the Hamptons is great, but nothing beats a day in Caletón beach in my beloved Dominican Republic.
  4. Sure I love a good Cosmo, but I would swap it for a spicy margarita any day.
  5. As exhilarating as it is to see my favorite boy band in concert, belting out my favorite salsa songs and dancing to them is every bit as exciting. Ok, more.
  6. Nothing helps a hangover the way a serving of mangú does with fried cheese and eggs.
  7. Sure, pumpkin spiced lattes are everything in the fall, but Cuban Café Con Leche is a winner year round.
  8. A NY Cheesecake may sound scrumptious, but I will always trade it for the Tres Leches.
  9. As much as I love the literary beauty of Shakespeare, how good does it feel to go from English, to Spanglish, to Spanish and back to English with your fellow Latin friends in the same conversation?
  10. And to wrap it up, as you can see from this picture, as much as I love neutral shades, I’m not intimidated by colors that accentuate my Latina lips. I wear color with orgullo!  Even purple.
